Warming-up

Encourage the students to answer the questions based on the picture.

Possible questions:

What more can you find from this photo?

Possible answers:

In this photo, Tu Youyou is receiving the award from King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden(瑞典国王卡尔十六世·古斯塔夫).

The Nobel Prize award ceremony was held in a magnificent hall. Everyone was standing up when Tu Youyou received her award.

S1: I think she was the true leader of the team. Because she is very decisive and intelligent. She was the one who decided the route of TCM research to find effective substance.

S2: She is also the backbone of the team. When plenty of experiments failed, her team members must want to give up on wormwood. But as the text says, Tu would not acknowledge to defeat. She insisted on carrying on with the research, which finally led to success.
